MSD Project

Any resident with a sump pump outflow line installed on private property by MSD as part of recent project should be aware that ongoing maintenance and “ownership” of that system will be the homeowner, not MSD.  In the event you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact the following:

Community Beautification Project

Beechwood Village has undertaken a community beautification project that will include many exciting upgrades of landscaping, entrance renewal, signage improvements, street light expansion, hardwood tree replenishment, intersection landscaping, and more.  The work has already begun with several segments already completed.  The hardwood tree replenishment program will start shortly and be completed by Spring 2012.

Community Beautification – Resident Participation

All residents can play a big role in overall beautification efforts by being more conscience of their own property conditions.  Some lawns in the Village are not regularly mowed, landscaping is allowed to grow out of control, home exterior conditions deteriorate, cars are parked on lawns, disabled cars litter driveways, yard waste is piled up in rear yards, and individual owners don’t seem to care.  PLEASE get out and take a good look at your property.  Consider what the view is like for your neighbors!  Please consider the impact to individual and overall value of Beechwood Village properties due to your inaction.

Important Message – MSD Public Forum

MSD invites you to our main downtown office to participate in a sewer overflow abatement project review and input meeting. At this meeting, MSD will report on progress of projects and accept comments and input on projects currently under development.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Two formal presentations of general program overviews including a select group of projects will be given at 4 pm and repeated at 6 pm; however, staff will be available from 3 pm to 7 pm. CITY OF BEECHWOOD VILLAGE

The Beechwood Village City Council will be hosting a supplier/contractor forum to offer residents the opportunity to familiarize themselves with issues related to sump pumps, back-up power systems, generators, insurance coverage, etc.

Tuesday, March 29th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM
OR
Thursday, March 31st from 6:30 – 8:30 PM

Location: Basement of Beechwood Baptist Church 201 Biltmore Road

Visit with the experts to gain necessary knowledge for making informed decisions about your individual needs. The City Council urges all residents to explore their options as we approach the Spring season and potential power outages. In many cases, the need to maintain continuous operation of sump pump activity will be critical.

Residents should not consider supplier/contractor participation as City Council endorsement of the company and/or particular service(s). Each resident should plan to make their own decision regarding use of their services.  Click here to download the PDF.

Sump Pump Outflow Line Project

The contract has been signed and work has begun on the sump pump outflow line project. The contractor has started work in the 300 block of Tyne Road. Residents are reminded this project is a Beechwood Village project and not contractually associated with the larger MSD project. Resident questions regarding the sump pump outflow line project can be addressed by calling the Village line at 381-1038 or via e-mail on the Village website.

Resident Alert!

Around 4:00am on September 29th, 10-12 cars were broken into on Short Road, Fox Run Road, and Brunswick Road. These cars were parked in driveways and in some cases unlocked. All residents are reminded to remove valuables, secure your vechicles and ensure they are locked while parked in the driveway (day or night). Additionally, please do not leave your garge doors open at night.

Sump Pump Outflow Line Project

The sanitary sewer project that has been ongoing for over a year in Beechwood Village has created a problem in a number of areas with sump pump discharges from certain homes. Standing water has caused algae growth along the curbs in the warm weather months, icing conditions in cold weather and is generally unsightly.

MSD has worked with Beechwood Village to implement certain improvements that will alleviate the standing water problem. In several weeks, work will begin in certain areas of the Village to install a 6″ outflow line 3 feet inside yards from the edge of pavement which is the grassy public right of way. The line will be approximately 2′ deep. Individual sump pump lines will be connected to the 6″ line, which in turn will be connected to the existing storm water catch basins.

Please download the Sump Pump Outflow Line Project (PDF) document for complete details and a schedule of pipe lines and properties.

Recycling

Our trash collection service provider indicates the recycling participation in Beechwood Village is only 25-30% of all residents. The City Council considers this level of participation rather poor and urges all residents to upgrade home trash programs to include recycling. Our environment and community need your participation. Residents can contact Rumpke at 502-568-3800 to obtain a recycling bin and make billing arrangements. Bins with a top are available.
